Another interesting application for the cfsFlow software is the simulation of Dam Breaks. In this case, a 3D simulation is particularly interesting to better evaluate the damages that such infrastructure can cause in case of a natural disaster like an earthquake.
The software was first used to simulate academical “dam breaks” like in the following animation.
Recently the software was used on more realistic cases. For example we simulated the Malpasset Dam break that happens in France in 1959 when a 40m high wave went throw the vally until the city of Fréjus (F), killing 423 people.
